91µ¼º½ Research Grants

91µ¼º½ Research Grants provide support to middle and high school teachers engaging their students in authentic scientific research.

The 91µ¼º½ Research Grants program is an initiative dedicated to supporting middle and high school teachers in expanding student access to authentic, inquiry-driven student research. Since 2017, $885,000 has been awarded to 407 teachers.

Teachers working with students in grades 6-12 in the US and US territories are eligible to apply for the grants, which come in two forms: (1) $1,000 in preselected research kits assembled and distributed to teachers by 91µ¼º½, and (2) up to $5,000 paid directly to teachers intended for purchasing specialized 91µ¼º½ equipment. 91µ¼º½ educators whose classrooms would benefit from additional equipment are encouraged to apply.

For the purposes of this grant, a research project is defined as an independent investigation, frequently entered into science fairs and 91µ¼º½ competitions, by a student involving experimentation, engineering design, or invention. The grant is not intended to support whole class sets of materials for traditional classroom instruction.

91µ¼º½ announced that, as part of Regeneron’s previously announced $150 million title sponsorship renewal of the Science Talent Search, extending its support of 91µ¼º½ through 2036, the company will invest $30 million to strengthen the Society’s 91µ¼º½ Programs. The funding will help educators, schools and community organizations prepare the next generation of scientists, engineers, mathematicians and innovators.
